Handmade Kids Cutting Board & Wooden Knife Set

Description

This handmade kids’ wooden cutting board and knife set is made for little helpers who like to be involved in the kitchen.

Made from solid hardwood and sized for smaller hands, it gives kids their own wooden cutting board and wooden knife for supervised food prep, learning basic kitchen skills, Montessori-style kitchen activities, or simply helping alongside a parent while dinner is being made.

Each set is available in Cherry, Walnut, or White Oak, and because every piece is made from real wood, the color and grain will vary from one set to the next. That’s one of my favorite things about making them — no two sets are exactly alike.

The matching wooden knife has a large opening that’s easy for small hands to grip and a broad wooden cutting edge. It is intended for soft, easy-to-cut foods only and should always be used with adult supervision.

Foods such as bananas, strawberries, and some softer cheeses may be suitable. The wooden knife is not intended for hard, dense, or resistant foods that require a lot of force to cut.

This is not meant to replace a regular kitchen knife. Pushing too hard against resistant food can cause the knife to slip, so I recommend sticking with softer foods and always having an adult nearby.

The cutting board has softly rounded corners and edges along with a finger hole that makes it easy to pick up and carry.

Size: Approximately 8″ long × 5.5″ wide × 1/2″ thick.

Choose Your Wood

Walnut

Dark, rich brown tones with beautiful natural grain variation. Walnut gives these sets a deeper, more dramatic look.

White Oak

A lighter hardwood with warm coloring and strong, distinctive grain. It has a clean, natural look and can vary quite a bit from piece to piece.

Cherry

Warm reddish-brown coloring that naturally becomes richer and deeper with age.

Because these are made from solid hardwood, natural differences in grain, color, and markings are normal and are part of what makes each set unique.

Personalization

Optional name engraving is available if you’d like to turn it into a personalized kids cutting board and knife set.

It makes a fun gift for a little chef, a child who loves helping in the kitchen, or anyone beginning to learn simple food-prep skills.

Handmade in My Shop
Every cutting board and wooden knife is made individually in my woodworking shop.

I shape, sand, round, and finish each piece by hand. The set is finished with a food-safe oil and beeswax finish that brings out the natural grain of the hardwood and helps protect the wood during normal use.

These are not mass-produced pieces, so small differences from one set to another should be expected.

Care Instructions

Hand wash with mild soap and warm water, then dry thoroughly.

Do not soak the cutting board or wooden knife, and do not put either piece in the dishwasher.

Like any natural wood cutting board, an occasional coat of food-safe cutting board oil or board conditioner will help keep the wood looking its best.
